Etsy takes about 10% of a typical US sale. If the sale comes from an Offsite Ad, the Etsy fees can reach close to 25%. Put your numbers in this Etsy fee calculator and you will see every seller fee, what Etsy pays you, and your net profit after your own costs. It also works as an Etsy pricing calculator: it finds the price that gives you the profit margin you want.
How this calculator works
Listing fee: Etsy charges $0.20 USD to publish a listing. An auto-renew fee may apply when a listing renews after a sale, and additional quantities can incur extra listing fees. Local-currency amounts in this calculator are estimates because Etsy converts fixed USD fees at the market rate.
Transaction fee: 6.5% of the item price plus the shipping you charge.
Payment processing: a percentage plus a fixed amount on the item, shipping and sales tax. It depends on where your bank account is. In the United States it is 3% + $0.25.
Offsite Ads: 15% of the item price plus shipping, or 12% for shops that made $10,000 or more in the last 365 days. It is capped at $100 per order, and it only applies when a sale comes from one of these ads.
What you keep: the item price plus shipping, minus all Etsy fees, your cost and your postage. The price mode works backward and finds the lowest price that still leaves your target profit.
Not included: Etsy Ads spend, Etsy shipping-label charges, the 2.5% currency-conversion fee where applicable, deposit fees, regulatory operating fees, VAT on seller fees, and other account-specific charges. Fees are rounded to the cent. This estimate may differ from your Etsy Payment account.

How much does Etsy take from a sale?
On a $100 item with free shipping, a US seller pays $9.95 in Etsy selling fees. That is a $0.20 listing fee, a $6.50 transaction fee and $3.25 in payment processing. You are left with $90.05 before your own costs.
On a $1,000 item the Etsy fees are $95.45, about 9.5%. The percentage drops on bigger sales because the fixed parts ($0.20 and $0.25) matter less.
Small orders feel the fees more. On a $20 item with $5 shipping, Etsy takes $2.83, which is 11.3% of what the buyer pays.
If the buyer came from an Etsy Offsite Ad, the same $100 sale costs $24.95 in fees. More on that below.
What are the Etsy seller fees?
Here is the full Etsy fee breakdown in plain words:
- Listing fee: $0.20 for each listing, and again each time a listing renews after a sale. Etsy sets this fee in US dollars.
- Transaction fee: 6.5% of the item price plus the shipping you charge. Gift wrap counts too.
- Payment processing fee: a percentage plus a fixed amount, taken from the item price, shipping and any sales tax. It depends on the country of your bank account.
- Offsite Ads fee: 15% (or 12%), only when a sale comes from one of Etsy’s outside ads.
- Etsy Ads: optional ads inside Etsy. You choose the budget.
- Currency conversion fee: 2.5% if you list in a different currency than your bank account.
- Etsy Plus: $10 a month if you choose to subscribe.
The calculator covers the listing, transaction, payment processing and Offsite Ads fees. Etsy explains all of them on its fees and taxes page.
What is the Etsy listing fee?
The Etsy listing fee is $0.20 for every item you list, whether or not it sells. A listing lasts four months. When an item sells, the listing renews and you pay $0.20 again. If a buyer orders more than one from a multi-quantity listing, you pay $0.20 for each extra item. Etsy Fee Basics lists all of this.
What is the Etsy transaction fee?
The Etsy transaction fee is 6.5% of the item price plus shipping and gift wrap. It applies only when something sells, and it is the same in every country.
Because shipping counts, charging $8 shipping on a $15 item means $1.50 of that goes to the transaction fee. Free shipping does not remove the fee. If you build shipping into the item price, the fee is almost the same.
What is the Etsy payment processing fee?
This is the fee that changes with your country. When a buyer pays through Etsy Payments, Etsy takes a percentage of the whole order plus a fixed amount. The order includes the item, shipping and sales tax. Etsy’s table gives these rates:
- United States: 3% + $0.25
- United Kingdom: 4% + £0.20
- Canada: 3% + C$0.25 on orders from Canada or the US, and 4% + C$0.25 on orders from other countries
- Australia: 3% + A$0.25 on orders from Australia, and 4% + A$0.25 on international orders
- Euro countries (Germany, France, Spain, Italy and more): 4% + €0.30
Etsy deducts this fee before it pays you, and it comes on top of the transaction fee. You can see it in your payment account.
How does the Etsy Offsite Ads fee work?
Etsy advertises shop listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and other places. If a buyer clicks one of those ads and buys from you within 30 days, Etsy charges an extra fee. If nobody buys, you pay nothing.
The Etsy Offsite Ads fee is 15% for shops that made under $10,000 in the last 365 days. It drops to 12% for shops at $10,000 or more, and those shops cannot opt out. It never goes above $100 on one order. The details are on Etsy’s Offsite Ads page.
Not sure if the fee is worth it for your products? Read our guide: Are Etsy Offsite Ads Worth It? Do the Profit Math First.
Here is what it does to a $100 sale. Without an ad, the fees are $9.95 and you keep $90.05. With an ad, the fees are $24.95 and you keep $75.05. On a $1,000 sale the ad fee hits the $100 cap, so the total Etsy fees are $195.45 instead of $95.45.
If your shop is under $10,000 a year, you can turn Offsite Ads off. Many sellers do the math first. An ad sale at 15% may still leave a profit, and it brings a buyer you may not have found otherwise. The calculator shows you both cases.
What are the Etsy fees in the UK, Canada, Australia and Europe?
The listing fee and the Offsite Ads cap are set in US dollars, so Etsy converts them at the market rate. The calculator uses approximate local amounts for these two, so they can be a few cents off.
On an item priced at 100 in your own currency (no shipping, no ads), the total Etsy fees come out like this:
- UK: £10.85
- Canada: C$10.03
- Australia: A$10.05
- Euro countries: €10.97
So Etsy fees land around 10% to 11% in every country. Sellers in some countries (such as the UK, Canada, France, Italy, Spain and India) also pay a small regulatory operating fee on each order. The calculator leaves that out, so your real fees may be slightly higher. Your Etsy payment account always shows the exact amount.
What are the Etsy fees on digital products?
Digital downloads and printables have no shipping and no postage, so set both to 0 in the calculator. The Etsy fees for digital products are the same ones: $0.20 listing, 6.5% transaction and the payment processing fee.
Because the item is cheap and the fixed fees stay the same, the percentage climbs. An $8 printable costs $1.21 in fees, which is 15.1%. A $3 download costs $0.74, which is 24.7%. If you sell very cheap files, bundle them or raise the price a little so the fixed fees take a smaller bite.
How do I find my Etsy profit and margin?
Your Etsy profit is simple: what the buyer pays for the item and shipping, minus all Etsy fees, minus your cost to make the item (your cost of goods) and your postage. Your profit margin is that profit divided by the item price.
The calculator does this in the breakdown. For a $25 item with $5 shipping, $8 cost and $4 postage, a US seller pays $3.30 in fees, keeps $26.70 from Etsy, and ends with a net profit of $14.70. That is a margin of 58.8%.
Use the “What I keep from a sale” option to check an existing price. Add Offsite Ads to see the profit on an ad sale.
How do I price my items on Etsy?
Switch the Etsy profit calculator to “The price I should charge.” Enter the profit you want per sale, the shipping you charge, your cost and your postage. It finds the lowest price that still leaves your profit.
Example: you want $10 profit. The item costs you $8 to make and $4 to post. You charge $5 shipping. A US seller needs to charge $19.80. If the sale comes from an Offsite Ad, the same profit needs $24.73.
That gap is the reason to price with ads in mind. Many sellers set the price so the ad sales still leave something, and treat the non-ad sales as a bonus. Enter 0 as the profit to find your break-even price.
How can I pay lower Etsy fees?
You cannot skip the listing, transaction and payment processing fees. You can control the rest:
- Turn off Offsite Ads if your shop is under $10,000 a year and the margin on ad sales is too thin.
- Price with the fees included instead of adding them at the end. The price mode does this for you.
- Raise the price of very cheap items or sell them in bundles.
- Watch the $10 monthly charge. It is usually Etsy Plus, and it only pays off if you use the credits and tools.
- Check your payment account each month and compare it with what you expected.
Is Etsy worth the fees?
For many sellers, yes. Etsy brings buyers who are already looking for handmade, vintage and digital items, and you do not pay to run a store of your own. The cost is about 10% to 12% on ordinary sales, and more on ad sales.
If you already have steady customers of your own, compare it with your own store. Our Shopify fee calculator shows what a Shopify plan costs on the same sale. If you run ads of your own, the break-even ROAS calculator tells you how much each ad sale has to earn.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate Etsy fees?
Add the $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% of the item price plus shipping, and the payment processing fee for your country. For a US seller, processing is 3% of the item, shipping and tax, plus $0.25. Add the Offsite Ads fee only if the sale came from an ad. The Etsy fee calculator does all of this at once.
How much does Etsy take from a $100 sale?
For a US seller with free shipping and no ad, Etsy takes $9.95 and you keep $90.05. If the sale came from an Offsite Ad at 15%, Etsy takes $24.95.
Does Etsy take 20% or 30% of a sale?
Not on a normal sale. Without ads the total Etsy fees are usually 10% to 12%. An Offsite Ad sale can push it to about 25%. It does not reach 30% unless you add Etsy Ads spend and shipping labels on top.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge. Gift wrap counts too.
What is the Etsy payment processing fee?
It is a percentage plus a fixed amount that depends on your bank account’s country. In the US it is 3% + $0.25. In the UK it is 4% + £0.20.
Why is Etsy charging me $10 a month?
The most common reason is an Etsy Plus subscription, which costs $10 a month. You can see it in your payment account. Etsy Plus includes 15 listing credits and $5 in Etsy Ads credit each month, and you can cancel it in your shop settings.
Are the first 40 listings on Etsy free?
Etsy’s standard fee is $0.20 for every listing. If you got free listings through a promotion, the credit shows in your payment account.
Can I avoid the Offsite Ads fee?
If your shop made under $10,000 in the last 365 days, you can opt out. At $10,000 or more you cannot opt out, but the fee drops from 15% to 12%.
How do I work out my profit on an Etsy sale?
Take what the buyer pays for the item and shipping, subtract all Etsy fees, then subtract your cost to make the item and your postage. The calculator shows each step in the breakdown, with your profit margin.
Is there an Etsy fee calculator for Excel or Google Sheets?
This one needs no spreadsheet. Fill in the boxes and use the “Copy results” button to paste the numbers into your own sheet.
Does this calculator work for UK, Canadian, Australian and European sellers?
Yes. Choose your country and where the buyer is. The calculator uses Etsy’s processing rates for your location. It leaves out the regulatory operating fee and the currency conversion fee, so your real fees may be a little higher.
Is this Etsy fee calculator official?
No. It is an independent tool that uses the fees Etsy publishes. Etsy can change its fees, so check your payment account for the exact numbers.
Where these numbers come from
The fees on this page come from Etsy’s own help pages: Etsy Fee Basics, fees and taxes for selling on Etsy, payment processing fees, Offsite Ads and Etsy Plus. We checked them on October 16, 2026. This site is not affiliated with Etsy.
