TikTok FBT (Fulfilled by TikTok) 2026 US fees explained with real numbers

TikTok FBT: What Fulfilled by TikTok Costs and How It Works

FBT stands for Fulfilled by TikTok. It’s TikTok Shop’s own fulfillment service: you send your inventory to TikTok’s warehouses, and TikTok stores it, packs each order and ships it to the buyer.

TikTok FBT at a glance (US):

  • Fulfillment fee: from $4.28 per unit (items 4 oz or less), rising with weight
  • Storage: free for the first 60 days
  • Buyer shipping: free by default on every FBT order

Fees last verified against TikTok Shop’s official US FBT rate card (updated July 13, 2026) on October 24, 2026.

Below is how TikTok FBT works, what it costs on a real sale, and when it’s worth using.

What is FBT on TikTok?

FBT is TikTok Shop’s version of Amazon FBA. Instead of packing and shipping orders yourself, you store your products in TikTok’s fulfillment network, and TikTok handles the rest.

According to TikTok’s FBT rate card, the fulfillment fee covers picking, packing, packaging and last-mile shipping to the shopper. So when you see “FBT” in Seller Center, on a listing or in your payment details, it means the order was fulfilled by TikTok, not by you or your own warehouse.

The other options are shipping orders yourself (often called “shipped by seller”) or using a third-party logistics company (a 3PL).

How does TikTok FBT work?

In short: you ship inventory in, and TikTok ships orders out.

  1. Set up FBT in Seller Center and create an inbound shipment plan with the products and quantities you’re sending.
  2. Send your inventory. You can ship it to one of TikTok’s hubs (West hubs in Redlands, CA and Eastvale, CA, and an East hub in Middlesex, NJ) and pay a hub placement fee. Or you can ship straight to the fulfillment centers TikTok assigns, with no placement fee, as long as you follow its routing rules.
  3. TikTok stores your products. Storage is free for the first 60 days.
  4. A buyer places an order. TikTok picks, packs and ships it, with free shipping for the buyer.
  5. Fees come out of your revenue. The fulfillment fee is deducted when an order is delivered. Storage and other FBT charges are deducted from your sales once they’re settled.

There are size limits. As of July 13, 2026, each unit can weigh up to 150 lb, with no side longer than 108 inches.

How much is TikTok FBT? (2026 US fees)

The main cost is the fulfillment fee per unit. It depends on the item’s weight and on how many of your units are in the same order. These are the most common weight tiers from TikTok’s official rate card. All prices are per unit:

Weight1 unit2 units3 units4+ units
4 oz or less$4.28$2.52$1.91$1.56
Over 4 to 8 oz$4.52$2.91$2.36$1.93
Over 8 to 12 oz$4.70$3.05$2.61$2.23
Over 12 to 16 oz$5.10$3.16$2.78$2.36
Over 1 to 2 lb$5.71$3.92$3.14$2.60
Over 2 to 3 lb$6.27$4.30$3.25$2.76
Over 4 to 5 lb$7.66$5.09$4.54$4.54
Over 9 to 10 lb$9.63$7.46$7.30$7.30
Bar chart of TikTok FBT fulfillment fees per unit by weight and order size: 4 oz or less $4.28, $2.52, $1.91, $1.56; 8–12 oz $4.70, $3.05, $2.61, $2.23; 1–2 lb $5.71, $3.92, $3.14, $2.60; 4–5 lb $7.66, $5.09, $4.54, $4.54 for 1, 2, 3 and 4+ units

How weight is measured: if an item weighs 2 lb or less and is 332 cubic inches or less, TikTok charges by its actual weight. If it’s bigger, TikTok uses whichever is higher: the actual weight or the dimensional weight (length × width × height ÷ 166, in inches).

Multi-unit orders cost less per item. When a buyer orders two or more of your FBT items in one checkout, each unit gets a lower fee. For an 8–12 oz item, that’s $4.70 for one unit, $3.05 each for two, $2.61 each for three and $2.23 each for four or more. For heavier items, the 3-unit and 4+ unit rates are often the same. For example, both are $4.54 per unit for items over 4 to 5 lb.

Storage:

  • Free for the first 60 days
  • After that, it’s charged per cubic foot per day: $0.03 for days 61–90, $0.04 for 91–120, $0.06 for 121–180, $0.12 for 181–270, $0.14 for 271–365, and $0.27 after 365 days.
  • For example, 100 small items at 0.05 cubic feet each take up 5 cubic feet. During days 61–90, that’s about $0.15 a day, or roughly $4.50 a month.

Other FBT charges to know:

  • Hub placement fee if you choose to send inventory through a TikTok hub.
  • Incident and non-compliance fees if an inbound shipment doesn’t match your plan, arrives late or needs relabeling. Routing non-compliance starts at $0.50 per unit.
  • Return handling fees, which since June 1, 2026 depend on the return service you choose and what happens to the returned item. They replaced the old $3 flat fee per order.
  • Optional value-added services, launched May 15, 2026, charged only if you request them.

Sellers whose products meet TikTok’s packaging standards can get a Ship In Original Container (SIOC) discount of up to $0.80 per single-unit item.

What does FBT cost on a real $25 sale?

Say you sell a $25 product that weighs 9 oz, and a buyer orders one.

  • TikTok referral fee (6%): $1.50
  • FBT fulfillment fee (8–12 oz, 1 unit): $4.70
  • Total TikTok fees: $6.20
  • Revenue left after these fees: $18.80

That $18.80 isn’t your profit yet. You still need to subtract your product cost, the cost of sending inventory to TikTok, any ads and any refunds. If a creator sold it for a 10% commission, take off another $2.50, which leaves $16.30 before those costs.

This assumes a $25 fee base. TikTok charges the referral fee on what the buyer pays, including any shipping they pay, plus platform discounts and minus tax.

About the 6%: most US categories pay a 6% referral fee. Some jewelry categories and pre-owned items pay 5%, and the part of a pre-owned or collectibles sale above $10,000 is charged 3%, according to TikTok’s referral fee table.

To see your real profit, put the FBT fee in as your shipping cost in our TikTok Shop fee calculator, along with your product cost, creator commission, ads and refunds. For a full breakdown of the referral fee, see how much TikTok Shop takes from sellers.

Does FBT give buyers free shipping?

Yes. Since June 16, 2025, every FBT order ships free to the buyer, with no minimum order value. TikTok says this enrolls your products in its Free Shipping Program and can help them get more exposure on the Shop tab and the For You page. That can help sales, but it doesn’t guarantee better placement or more orders.

If free shipping hurts your margins on cheap items, you can opt out:

  • A $30 free shipping threshold then applies to those products.
  • Buyers pay a flat $5.99 on orders under $30, and TikTok keeps that $5.99.
  • You still pay the normal FBT fulfillment fee.
  • TikTok pays you $0.75 per unit on orders where the buyer paid for shipping. This doesn’t apply to creator sample orders or replacement orders.

TikTok warns that products opted out of free shipping may sell less, so check your margins carefully before you opt out.

FBT vs shipping orders yourself

The easiest way to compare is to work out what one order costs you each way. Here’s an example for the same 9 oz item. These are example numbers, so swap in your own.

Shipping it yourself:

  • Shipping label: $4.25
  • Mailer and packing materials: $0.30
  • About 3 minutes to pack, at $15 an hour: $0.75
  • Total: about $5.30 per order

Using FBT:

  • Fulfillment fee: $4.70
  • Storage, if it sells within 60 days: $0
  • Sending inventory to TikTok: about $0.30 per unit (an illustrative figure; your inbound cost will vary)
  • Total: about $5.00 per order

In this example, FBT is slightly cheaper and saves you the packing work. But storage past 60 days, return handling, hub placement or incident fees, or cheaper labels of your own can easily flip the result. So run the numbers with your real costs.

FBT tends to make sense when:

  • Your products are small and light (under 2–3 lb), where fees are lowest
  • Buyers often order several units at once, so multi-unit pricing kicks in
  • Your products sell within the 60 free storage days
  • You’d rather not spend your time packing orders

Shipping yourself tends to make sense when:

  • Your products are heavy or bulky, where FBT fees climb fast
  • Items sell slowly and would build up storage fees
  • You want branded packaging, inserts or a custom unboxing
  • You sell on several channels and already use your own warehouse or a 3PL

Is TikTok FBT worth it?

For many small sellers with light, fast-selling products, yes. The fees are clear, storage is free for two months, and you hand off the packing and shipping. For heavy items, slow sellers or brands that care about packaging, shipping orders yourself is often cheaper and more flexible.
