TikTok Shop Fee Calculator

TikTok Shop takes a 6% referral fee on most US orders. But 6% is rarely what you actually lose.

Add a creator’s commission, your shipping label, some ads and a few refunds, and a $25 sale can drop from “$9 profit” to “$4 profit” without you noticing. This free TikTok Shop fee calculator shows you the real number for each order, so you can set a price that keeps your margin.

This calculator follows TikTok Shop’s US fee rules.
TikTok’s US table lists 6% for most categories and 5% for specified jewelry and pre-owned categories. Check your exact product category in Seller Center; special rules can apply to high-value collectibles and pre-owned sales.

How this calculator works

Referral fee: your referral rate times what the buyer pays for the item and shipping, after your own discount and without sales tax. The default is 6%. Change it if your category or account has a different rate.

Creator commission: a percentage of the item price after your discount. You set the rate with each creator.

Refunds: This is an estimate of fully refunded orders. It assumes the referral fee is refunded minus TikTok’s refund administration fee (20% of the referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU), creator commission is reversed, and product cost plus your shipping cost are lost. The percentage is averaged across all orders. Partial refunds, cancellations, resalable returns and special cases can differ.

Ads: a share of the item price. They are billed separately from your payout, so they only reduce your profit here.

Profit and margin: profit is the amount the buyer pays for the item and shipping, minus estimated fees and costs. Margin is profit divided by the item price after your discount, excluding buyer-paid shipping from the denominator. Sales tax is not modeled; use this as an estimate.

Price mode: works backward and finds the lowest listed price, to the cent, that still leaves your target profit.

Not included: the lower 3% rate TikTok applies to the part of a pre-owned or collectibles sale above $10,000, the new seller discount, Fulfilled by TikTok fees, sales tax on referral fees for sellers registered in some states, and returns shipping. Amounts are rounded to the cent.

Rules checked on October 16, 2026 against TikTok’s referral fee table and its refund fee guide. This is an independent estimate, not affiliated with TikTok. Fee eligibility and refund outcomes can vary; confirm your category and actual charges in Seller Center and compare with your settlement report.

TikTok Shop fees at a glance

  • Referral fee: 6% for most categories, 5% for some jewelry and pre-owned items.
  • Refund fee: when an order is refunded, TikTok keeps 20% of the referral fee, up to $5 per item.
  • Creator commission: you set the rate, and you pay it on each sale a creator brings.
  • Shipping, ads and FBT: your own costs, which depend on how you ship and advertise.
  • The 8% rumor: some sites report it, but we found no official TikTok notice. Check your own rate in Seller Center.

How to use this TikTok Shop calculator

Choose your product category. Most categories pay 6%, so you can leave it as it is. Then enter your selling price, your cost price (what the product costs you), your shipping cost and your creator commission rate.

You instantly see your profit per order, your profit margin, and a bar that shows where the buyer's money went. So you can use it as a TikTok Shop profit calculator for any product.

Open More options if you want to add ads, refunds, a seller discount, or shipping that the buyer pays.

Switch to Find my price if you already know your target profit. The calculator works backward and gives you the lowest selling price that still earns it.

What are the charges from TikTok Shop?

For US sellers, these are the seller fees and other costs that come with a TikTok Shop order:

  • Referral fee: 6% of the order for most categories, 5% for a few. This is TikTok's cut.
  • Creator commission: the percentage you agree to pay a creator or affiliate who sells your product. You set the rate.
  • Shipping: what you pay for the label, or the fees of Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) if you use it.
  • Refund administration fee: a small fee TikTok keeps when an order is refunded.
  • Ads: the money you spend on Shop Ads or boosted videos, if you run them.

TikTok charges the referral fee and the refund fee, and also its shipping label or FBT fees if you use them. Creator commission and ads are costs you choose.

What is the TikTok Shop commission in 2026?

In the US, the TikTok Shop commission (the referral fee) is 6% for most categories. TikTok raised it to 6% in April 2024, and its referral fee table lists 6% for most categories.

A few categories pay 5%: diamond, gold, jade, platinum, ruby, sapphire and emerald jewelry, and all pre-owned items. For pre-owned items and collectibles, the part of a sale above $10,000 is charged 3%.

The fee is worked out on what the customer pays, including the shipping they pay you, but not on sales tax. Your own seller discounts lower it.

What about 8%? Some websites say TikTok raised the US fee to 8% on August 4, 2026. We looked for an official TikTok notice and did not find one. One of those sites, Be Bold Digital, calls the change "reported" and tells sellers to check their own rate. Do the same. Open Seller Center, find your rate, and type it into the referral fee box under More options.

How to calculate TikTok Shop fees by hand

You do not need a tool to check the math. TikTok's own formula for the referral fee is:

Referral fee = rate × (what the customer pays + any TikTok discount − sales tax)

For a $25 product with no shipping charge and no TikTok discount, that is 6% × $25 = $1.50. If the buyer also pays you $5 for shipping, it is 6% × $30 = $1.80.

Creator commission is the rate you agreed with the creator times the item price after your discount. At 10% on $25, that is $2.50.

Then your profit is:

Profit = what the buyer pays − referral fee − creator commission − ads − refunds − product cost − your shipping cost

The calculator does exactly this, and rounds each fee to the cent.

A real example, step by step

Say you sell a product for $25. It costs you $8, shipping costs $4, and a creator who sold it gets 10%.

  • Referral fee (6%): $1.50
  • Creator commission (10%): $2.50
  • TikTok pays you: $21.00
  • Your cost and shipping: $12.00
  • Profit: $9.00, a 36% margin

Now add the things that really happen. You spend 15% of the price on ads ($3.75), and 5% of orders get refunded.

  • Profit drops to $4.18, a 16.7% margin.

Same product, same price. The ads and refunds took more than half your profit. That is why the referral fee alone never tells you how much TikTok Shop really costs.

Why cheap products lose money on TikTok Shop

Shipping is a fixed cost. It does not shrink when your price does. So the cheaper the product, the harder it is hit. Here is the same setup at four price points. The product costs 30% of the price, shipping is $4, the referral fee is 6% and the creator gets 10%.

Selling priceProfit with no ads or refundsProfit with 15% ads and 5% refunds
$10$1.40 (14%)-$0.53 (loss)
$25$9.50 (38%)$4.68 (19%)
$50$23.00 (46%)$13.37 (27%)
$100$50.00 (50%)$30.74 (31%)

A $10 product looks fine on paper and loses money once you advertise it. If you sell low-priced items, bundle them or raise the price before you pay for ads.

How to set a price on TikTok Shop?

  1. Add up your product cost and the shipping you pay.
  2. Decide the profit you want on each order, after everything.
  3. Put in your real creator commission, an ad budget and a refund rate you can live with.
  4. Use Find my price. It gives the lowest price that still earns your target.

There is no official "good margin" number. A common rule of thumb among sellers is to keep at least 20% after ads and refunds, but your own costs matter more. If the price the calculator gives you is too high for buyers, the product may not suit TikTok Shop.

Is TikTok Shop free?

Not completely. Fee guides such as Winning Hunter report no setup fee, monthly fee or listing fee for US sellers. TikTok takes its referral fee when an order is completed. Check the sign-up screens in Seller Center for your own account.

Some sellers also get a lower referral rate for a short time when they start. TikTok explains it on its new seller promotion page, and the offer in your account may differ. Do not plan your prices around it, because it ends.

What happens to the fees when an order is refunded?

TikTok gives the referral fee back on a refunded order, but it keeps a refund administration fee of 20% of that referral fee, up to $5 per item. This has applied since May 15, 2025, and it is explained in TikTok's referral fee and refund guide.

On a $25 item, that is $0.30. On a $500 item, 20% of the $30 fee would be $6, but the cap brings it down to $5.

Creator commission works differently. TikTok's affiliate commission page says a fully refunded order earns the creator $0.

The calculator treats a refunded item as lost (you do not resell it). That is the careful way to plan. If you can restock returns, your real profit will be a little higher.

How much creator commission should you pay?

There is no fixed rate. You set it, and you can change it for different products or creators. Sellers commonly set it somewhere around 10% to 20%. A higher rate gets more creators interested, but it cuts your profit on every sale they bring.

Try a few rates in the calculator before you decide. Many sellers find that a rate that looks fine at $50 is too high at $15.

Why is TikTok Shop expensive for sellers?

It feels expensive because the costs stack on top of each other. A 6% referral fee looks small. Then you add a creator commission, a shipping label, ad spend to get the first sales, and refunds. Together they can take a large part of the price, as the table above shows.

Want to see these costs on a real product? Our guide Is TikTok Shop Worth It? What a $30 Sale Really Leaves You follows one $30 item sold three ways: straight from your shop, through a creator, and through a creator plus ads.

The sellers who do well keep their product cost low, price high enough to cover everything, and know their break-even ROAS before they spend on ads.

What is break-even ROAS?

ROAS means return on ad spend: how many dollars of sales you get for each dollar spent on ads. Break-even ROAS is the lowest ROAS where you stop losing money.

You find it by dividing the item price by your profit before ads. In the first example, you make $9.00 before ads on a $25 sale. $25 divided by $9 is about 2.8. If your ads bring in less than $2.80 per $1 spent, you lose money on each ad sale.

The calculator shows this number under your results. To test other numbers, use our break-even ROAS calculator, or check what your ads already earn with the ROAS calculator.

Does TikTok Shop pay monthly?

Not as one monthly payout. TikTok Shop pays sellers per order. It pays after the order is delivered, and only if no refund or return request is still open for it. Payments go out automatically once your balance reaches $1, according to TikTok's referral fee and refund guide.

The exact timing depends on the settlement period on your account, so check Finance in Seller Center.

Why is my TikTok Shop payout lower than my price?

Look at your settlement report for these:

  • Creator commission: taken out of the order before you are paid.
  • Referral fee on shipping: if you charge buyers for shipping, the fee covers it too.
  • Refunds and the refund fee: a refunded order reduces what you get.
  • Sales tax on the referral fee: sellers registered in West Virginia or Texas have had sales tax added to the referral fee since November 1, 2025.
  • Shipping and FBT fees: see TikTok's FBT rate card if you use Fulfilled by TikTok.

A good habit: after your first ten orders, compare the calculator's result with your settlement report. If the numbers differ, one of the items above is usually the reason.

Is TikTok Shop cheaper than Amazon?

On the main fee, often yes. Amazon's referral fees depend on the category. Most categories pay 15%, some such as electronics pay 8%, and a few pay more. Fulfillment fees come on top if you use FBA. TikTok's referral fee is 6% for most categories.

But a lower fee does not mean a higher profit. TikTok sales usually come with creator commission and ad spend, while Amazon sales often come with advertising too. The only fair comparison is profit per order. Run the same product through both.

What this calculator does not include?

To keep it simple, the calculator leaves out:

  • the new seller promotion
  • Fulfilled by TikTok fees
  • return shipping
  • TikTok-funded discounts
  • sales tax on the referral fee
  • the 3% rate on pre-owned and collectibles sales above $10,000

It also covers the United States only. TikTok Shop in the UK and the EU uses a different commission. TikTok's own pages list 9% for the UK and 9% for Germany, Spain, France, Ireland and Italy, with lower rates for some categories. So the numbers on this page do not apply there.

If you sell on other platforms too, our Etsy fee calculator and Shopify fee calculator work the same way. You can find more in our fee calculators section.
